The Dubliner in New Hope, Pennsylvania

Everyone has a special location where you met “the one”. The Dubliner is our place, but more about that later.

Located in New Hope, Pennsylvania, this restaurant sits on the main road that is occupied by tourists and visitors daily.

Nestled between homes and shops, The Dubliner offers visitors a menu full of authentic Irish food in a small cozy setting.

With the wide array of items on the menu this is a great place to take in a meal, beer or on enjoy some of the local music.

When you walk in to The Dubliner you are greeted by the bar that is set in exposed brick with two large screen televisions. On your left you will find a spiral staircase and a doorway that leads you into the main dining area.

This restaurant offers you a few different locations to enjoy their menu without restrictions.

For us, we love asking for the table of our first date!

Yep, that’s right, this is where Peter and I had our very first date back in 2017. Little did we know how much this restaurant would mean to us over the coming years as it became a comfort food location for us after a stressful week.

Their menu offered me the joys of remembering my trip to Ireland and Peter a nice choice of burgers while also enjoying a properly poured Guinness.

Trust me, there is only one way to pour a Guinness and yes, it does taste way better in Ireland, but this was definitely a close second!

Our Favorites on the Menu

Appetizers

Boxty Potato Pancakes

These savory little circles of pan seared potatoes can truly be a meal of their own. With a side of apple sauce and sour cream to satisfy all palettes, these are a great option for a quick hot snack or appetizer.

But make sure you keep room for some of the amazing food to come if you plan on having a full meal here. Despite the deliciousness of these potato pancakes, you can fill up really quick.

This is why we always split our order and take some home too!

Salad

Caesar Salad

I know you might think I’m crazy expressing a normally bland salad as a favorite here, but when you add on either grilled chicken or salmon, this salad becomes a light lunch favorite for me.

Add on a Guinness and I’m a happy little clam without feeling guilty on my bank account or stomach.

Entrees

Bangers & Mash

Sausage and mashed potatoes served with a brown gravy.

This meal is a very simple option, while not my normal go to meal this option is great paired with a beer or two.

Shepherd’s Pie

Ground beef, combined with herbs and veggies topped with mashed potatoes.

This meal reminds me of one I grew up eating on a cold winter day. Despite Peter’s distaste for ground beef, he even enjoyed the combination of herbs and veggies that are served in this dish.

Sitting in a thin red sauce, the combination of ingredients under the mashed potatoes provides you with a warm belly of home cooked food and comfort with a buttery mashed potato chaser.

While this isn’t a traditional American shepherd’s pie remember, when you step into The Dubliner, you are stepping into a little piece of Ireland’s heart.

Sliced Corned Beef Reuben

Corned beef sandwich combined with sauerkraut, swiss cheese and Russian dressing.

Ultimately one of my favorite meals at The Dubliner. Reuben sandwiches have always been a favorite go to sandwich for me and is one when offered I will order above anything else on most menus.

The Dubliner is no different. The sandwich is piled high with corn beef and all the stuffings held together with marbled rye bread, grilled to perfection.

Whether you want to eat this open faced or with two hands no bite will ever disappoint on this sandwich.

Black & Bleu Burger

Cajun seasoned burger topped with grilled onions and blue cheese.

This is one of Peter’s favorite options on the menu especially when we are looking for a quick bite to eat.

Other Menu Items

One thing we haven’t chosen to try at The Dubliner in New Hope are the desserts. While they do offer a small selection of desserts, it’s a personally choice that we haven’t experienced any of their offerings.

Just to note, if you have kids, The Dubliner does offer a smaller kids menu as well.

Access to Restaurant

If you are looking directly at the restaurant from the street there are 3 steps to get into the building. And as someone who attempted to do these steps on crutches a few years back.

But don’t get discouraged, there is a side entrance that is wheelchair accessible that takes you through the garden seating option.

Seating Options

As mentioned earlier, there is the bar and main dining room. But there is also the patio garden seating and the party sections right off the main dining room.

Because The Dubliner is one of the main restaurants on our regular list we have definitely sat in all locations.

In fact, the corner table in the bar is where our story began on that first date!

The Pub

The bar houses about 3 round tables along with about 8 seats at the bar. Upon entrance you will see a spiral staircase that leads up the a loft for additional seating for all you sports fans.

Here you can order anything on the menu, catch a game, enjoy a conversation or even have your first date!

Dining Room

The main dining area is set with a wall full of windows that gives you the ability to watch as shoppers and visitors walk on by. Giving a small town feel, this dining room provides you with a sense of community and privacy blanketed in hospitality that will make anyone want to keep coming back.

Blackthorne Lounge

The party room has been used, for parties, but also local bands will come out and perform throughout the year. This section of the restaurant offers a private bar, which makes those special events even better!

The Paddy’O

Is a cozy outdoor dining location. Set in a garden with an additional outdoor bar, this is a great place to enjoy one of those cool summer nights while listening to the Delaware River roll on past.

History of The Dubliner

The restaurant is named after the Irish folk group “The Dubliners”.

Owned by Robert Lynch and Mike Scully, both natives of Ireland, Robert’s father, Bob Lynch was an former member of the band “The Dubliners.”

COVID Policy

It is noted on The Dubliner website that both indoor and outdoor seating is available at 50% capacity. With this, reservations are requested to help accommodate.
