Where to find Plus Size Clothing around Virginia Beach

As we planned out our road trip through Virginia one of my goals was to help determine where other travelers can find plus size clothing. Growing up the beach and boardwalk was a staple in summertime adventures. The shop windows lined with tiny bikinis and novelty t-shirts it felt as though there would never be a place I could purposely purchase a bathing suit or souvenir on one of these trips. Now that I’m an adult, the same childhood feelings creep up as I walk past the never-changing window displays. But times have changed and stores are starting to provide more options.
Here is a list of plus size clothing stores in and around Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Catherines

Catherines is one of the first plus-size clothing stores I knew growing up. At the time they didn’t carry styles I liked so I avoided the store altogether. As they went through a few new ownerships the styles have changed along with my personal style.

CATO

CATO offers great fashion choices while on a budget. Their styles are inclusive while providing options for comfort as well. I had not heard of CATO until I started doing my research for this post. The reviews of this store on places like Google and Yelp rave about the choices and customer service.

Curvaceous Boutique

Curvaceous Boutique provides classic and eloquent choices in casual, work attire and formal wear. The color pallet has no end with multiple choices for anyone who walks through their doors.

Dress Barn

It is amazing how much things have changed since I was a teenager and young adult, Dress Barn was my mom’s version of FashionBug (I miss that store so much!!!). Today they offer great options for dress and work attire along with some casual pieces as well.

F21 XXI

Forever 21, the store I envied as a teenager. All my friends shopped there and I so desperately wanted to own something with their tag. When I lost weight a few years ago I was so excited that I was finally able to fit into something of theirs, that it still hangs in my closet even though I no longer fit it right now. But I don’t have to have envy or jealousy or whatever you want to call it because they now offer plus size clothing. AND you can find it right here in Virginia Beach with the F21 XXl store.

Lane Bryant

Lane Bryant has numerous different stores within the Virginia Beach area, click here to find one that is closest to you.
I might be a little bias because I used to work for Lane Bryant right before I went to college, but their underwear is the best I have ever worn. The rest of their clothes are pretty awesome as well. While the styles have changed over the last few years based on trends and expectations, they do a pretty good job keeping up with what curvy shoppers want.

Rainbow Shops

Torrid

Torrid you went from a steampunk plus girls dream to every plus size girls dream. They offer work attire, casual, intimates, and swim. Plus they carry Disney and Fan Girl options, I mean honestly what more can we ask for in a company?

True Woman
910 Atlantic Ave, Virginia Beach, VA 23451Unknown $
Located on the beach walk block in Virginia Beach, True Woman is a store that is easily hidden. Nestled between a few restaurants and large boardwalk-style souvenir shop the only thing that is outstanding for the shop while walking by are the dresses they place on display outside the store.
While I did not get a chance to walk into the store on our trip, I found numerous reviews mentioning their supply of plus size clothing. Sadly I could not find an updated social media account to post any images, but if you are in need of something while on the beach, this is likely going to be your best bet without having to pack up for the day and head out of the area.
