Beach chairs… designed to keep your butt out of the sand, but are difficult to find when you are plus-size.
When we first started dating, beach trips were one of the things we could easily afford and use as an excuse to get out of town. That is the joy of living less than an hour from the coastline.
But, unlike everyone else with their beach setups, we relied on old sheets and towels to provide us some form of comfort when laying in the sand. Something definitely needed to change when we realized we were leaving the beach much earlier than expected because of backaches.
After a few years of trying many of the mainstream beach chairs that have weight limits of 300lbs max, we needed to find a more permanent solution.

A few years ago we purchased this chair on a whim at Costco.
The weight limit states it holds up to 300lbs, but Peter has been able to sit in it comfortably even over 300lbs.
The biggest drawback to this chair and most low beach chairs is that getting up out of it is more like a tuck and roll situation.
The chair is lightweight and easy to carry with backpack straps. Some of the bonus features include a small pillow, towel bar, cooler pack, cup holder, and a few random pockets on the arms rest.

This is one of the more expensive options on the list. But this beach chair does offer some reclining options along with hard wooden arms. There are no additional pockets to store your items, but there are two cup holders.

After sitting on the sand for far too many beach trips, Peter wanted something that made it easier on his back.
At the time, the Oniva PT-XL Heavy Duty Camping Chair was one of the only portable chairs that allowed individuals over 300lbs the comfort and freedom of sitting.
The downside of this chair is that there are no additional pockets like we see in many other beach chairs. But this chair is much higher off the ground then beach chairs allowing for uses to easily lift up out of it without getting sand all over the place.

With a 600lb weight limit you can easily take this chair anywhere for personal comfort. The chair offers a side table, cup holder, and side pocket. The only downside is that instead of a carrying tote this chair folds similar to a typical folding chair and weights 22lbs, which might make it a little more difficult to carry.

However, when reading the reviews there are many who complain about the arms and legs poking into them if they are over 450lbs. This is something to take into consideration based on your body shape and personal needs.
